My Best Gadgets of 2022 (So Far)
2022 is not over yet, and I’ll have even more gadgets to share (probably) by the end of the year, but I thought I’d give a quick synopsis of some of the standout items I’ve added to my collection so far. I’m focused on trying to bridge the chasm between ecosystems (especially Apple and Microsoft) but now, I’m adding Android into the mix.
Montblanc Summit 3 Smartwatch
Google’s Wear OS3 is a refreshing update that brings more smartwatch compatibility to the iOS ecosystem. Finally, we can have non-Apple branded devices connected to our iPhones! I picked up the $1300 Montblanc Summit 3 smartwatch in Chicago a couple of weeks ago. Just released in July, Summit 3 is a significant evolution in Montblanc’s Android-based smartwatch platform leveraging Wear OS3 to bring compatibility to both Android and iOS. Coming in at almost $800 more than Samsung’s Watch 5 Pro, Montblanc has delivered a solidly designed watch based on the quality of its timepiece design — which mostly consists of prices that range from $4000 or up. The Summit 3 is one of the few mid-level options we now have for both Android and iOS smartwatches (At a similar price point, I have my Hermes Apple Watch, but the functionality there is no different than the basic Apple Watch).
I bought the Summit to sync with my iPhone and use it as a higher-quality augmentation for my Apple…
